He received an undergraduate degree in Anthropology and Religious Studies from Metropolitan State University of Denver. Michael conducted his graduate work at Portland State University and earned a M.S. in Applied Anthropology. In the last five years Michael has conducted ethnographic research in Nevada, Oregon, Colorado and Nueve Leon, Mexico. During the summer of 2010 he worked as co-field supervisor with Nathan Allison on the Ute Mountain Ute Applied Anthropology Field School for Metropolitan State University of Denver. Between 2010 and 2012 Michael took part in an anthropological research and ethnographic film project known as “The Crossroads at Stonewall.” The project took place on Nellis Air Force base in Nevada. The Department of Defense funded the project. The film depicts Native Americans of the Great Basin returning to a portion of the three million acre Nevada Test and Training Range for the first time in more than 60 years. This project blended four aspects; traditional ecological knowledge of 17 Native Americans tribes indigenous to the region; the perspective of federal land managers; historical documents on the region; and cultural and archaeological interpretations of the material culture present at the sites. Most recently, Michael worked with a social justice theater organization based in Denver, CO known as “The Romero Theater Troupe” (www.romerotroupe.org). During that time he conducted ethnographic research (qualitative and quantitative methods), created and managed the troupe’s social media and produced a full length documentary film highlighting the cultural impact of the Romero Theater Troupe on the Denver community. Alongside the film Michael published his research results in an article titled “Community Media as a Forum for Resistance: The Case of the Romero Theater Troupe” RELATED: How Africans Turned White and How White Will Become Brown https://goo.gl/kCcjnK #WhiteFragility vs. #WhitePrivilege and Guilt (Battalora and DiAngelo) https://goo.gl/BMD36O The Historical Connection Between Bacon's Rebellion and the Legal Formation of White People https://goo.gl/R15y81 DVD - Origin of Human Life in Africa http://bit.ly/2iXVUWF The Origin and History of the #Nword with Kaba Hiawatha Kamene https://goo.gl/xQBfKw
