Art has always been a big part of his life, but it wasn’t until high school, and a little nudging from his Junior and Senior year art teachers, that he decided to refine his talents. Now working at Last Angles Tattoo Co. in Dallas, J.D. is currently focusing on creating detailed realistic, surrealistic, and illustrative tattoos as well as honing his skills as a fine artist, all while continuing the never ending journey of growth and expressive discovery. Since graduating from Rowlett High School in 2010, JD has been making a name for himself in the Dallas area and he has no intention of stopping there. He has been featured in 5 RAW: natural born artists showcases to date, from 2013 to 2015. In 2015 he was chosen to be featured in the Los Angeles based Chocolate & Art Exhibition hosted at The Lofty Spaces over the course of two days. As for 2016, he was hand picked to participate in the New York based Conception Contemporary Art Show hosted at the The Texas Ale Project, wherein he was awarded ‘Best Presentation’ for the night. He was also asked to create art for the Dallas Savages art exhibition, presented by Tres Reyes Fine Art Productions and hosted at the Lawley Art Group Gallery located in the illustrious art & design district of Dallas, on Dragon Street. From April 13th, 2017 until June 30th 2017, The Latino Cultural center will display his first two life sized oil portraits in the juried, 14th annual Hecho En Dallas show. JD doesn’t just spend his time working on refining his skills and participating in local exhibitions. He is also a commissioned fine artist, having installed two custom, 7’x12’, chalk illustrations in 2015, and another in 2016 and 2017 at “The Lark on the Park”, a magnificent restaurant facing Klyde Warren Park in Downtown Dallas. "Art, and creating art is what makes the most sense to me, and I find peace and clarity while I'm creating. My inspiration is all around me, I'm just a sponge. I absorb everything around me, and when I decide to release, whatever happens, happens honestly." - J.D.
